'It's written all over your face' explores Mark's ongoing fascination with the photographic portrait and its depiction of emotion. In these images and the accompanying short video piece, the human face seems charged with emotion; it is a dramatic and compelling spectacle. Yet on reflection something remains defiantly elusive and ambiguous. What is the person thinking? What feelings are they experiencing? Is their emotion authentic? What are we really seeing here?
Mark is a British born artist working in London. His work has been included in a number of exhibitions and publications including 'The Space Between Us' (LIP magazine, Autumn 2008) and 'A Place Like Home' at Photomonth 2009. His work has recently been selected for the forthcoming London Independent Photography show at the Proud Central gallery (Oct 2010) . Mark was the recipient of the Media Prize for Academic Writing at the 2009 TVU Summer Showcase.
